Welcome to the ongoing Department of Computer Science and Engineering Open House, held in room 301 of the H.R. Bright Building (HRBB) at Texas A&M. The department is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Faculty, staff and students look forward to meeting you for the first time or renewing an old friendship. Please stop by and say howdy!

    Annual Computer Science and Engineering Awards Banquet
    The awards banquet was organized by the Computer Science and Engineering Graduate Student Association, the Aggie Women in Computer Science, and Upsilon Pi Epsilon. The members of the department's Industrial Affiliates Program funded the event. Awards were presented for excellence in leadership, teaching, research, service. Recipients of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Distinguished Former Student Award were Dr. Christopher Jones (BS 1999), and Mr. Eric Marin (BS 1986) were presented with commemorative plaques, and $1000 scholarships were awarded in their honor.

    The awards banquet was organized by the The CSE Student Organizations—with special recognition to the Computer Science and Engineering Graduate Student Association and Aggie Women in Computer Science—and the faculty and staff of the CSE department The members of the department's Industrial Affiliates Program funded the event. Awards were presented for excellence in leadership, teaching, research, service.     Eleventh Annual Computer Science and Engineering Awards Banquet
    The awards banquet was organized by AWICS, TACS, UPE, TAGD, CSGSA, and the faculty and staff of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and sponsored by members of the department's Industrial Affiliates Program. Awards were presented for excellence in leadership, teaching, research, service and in honor of the Distinguished Former Students.

    Recipients of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Distinguished Former Student Award for 2009 were Colonel Curtis A. Carver, PhD '01, Vice Dean United States Military Academy and Mr. Thomas E. Reddin, MS '65, Director, Systems Integration Division, Systems and Applied Sciences Sector of the Federal Data Corporation, (ret). Dr. Lt. Col. Carver and Mr. Reddin were presented with commemorative plaques, and $1000 scholarships were awarded in their honor.

Cross II, PhD '86, received the Department of Computer Science Distinguished Former Student Award. Student and faculty awards were presented for excellence in leadership, teaching, research and service.

    CS Former Student Picnic
    Texas A&M Engineering's Department of Computer Science held its sixth annual CS Former Student Picnic and Lab Tours on Friday, October 10, 2008. Former students and current faculty and staff were treated to Buppy's award-winning Texas Barbeque served from noon to 1:00 p.m. on the lawn next to the Civil Engineering Building — across Ross Street from the H.R. Bright Building on the Texas A&M University, College Station campus. Tours of department labs were held from 1:00 p.m. till 3:30 p.m. If you couldn't attend this year's picnic, we hope to see you at the next one..

    Texas A&M Engineering's Department of Computer Science held its fifth annual CS Former Student Picnic and Lab Tours on Friday, October 5, 2007. The picnic had a fiesta theme with fajitas, rice and beans served from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the lawn next to the Civil Engineering Building — across Ross Street from the H.R. Bright Building on the Texas A&M University, College Station campus. Tours of department labs were held until 4:00 p.m. If you didn't have an opportunity to attend this year, mark your calendars for the next one!

We ate barbecue and fixin's from C&J, toured computer science research labs, and enjoyed the company of recent and not so recent CS graduates.     CS Former Student Picnic
    The Department of Computer Science in the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M University held its first CS Former Student Picnic. A picnic lunch was served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the lawn next to the Civil Engineering Building--across Ross Street from the H.R. Bright Building. Tours of the computer science department were available from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The department invited all its former students to come by and enjoy a memorable day on campus.
