Bright Building (HRBB) at Texas A&M. The department is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
Monday through Friday. Faculty, staff and students look forward to meeting you
for the first time or renewing an old friendship. Please stop by and say howdy!

Nominations for the 2010 CSE Distinguished Former Student Award are due. Your nomination packet should consist of a letter of nomination, a brief citation (not more than 80 words) describing the nominee's technical accomplishments and contributions to the computing profession, and a current vita or résumé. You also may submit up to three supporting letters per nomination. There is no limit to the number of nominations you may submit.
- 2009 award recipients are Dr. Lt. Col. Curtis A. Carver and Mr. Thomas Reddin.
- 2008 award recipients were Mr. Robert E. Jordan, Ms. LaTasha Gary, and Dr. James H. Cross II.
- 2007 award recipients were Dr. Joseph Monroe, Mr. Curtis A. Hite, and Dr. Col. Daniel J. Ragsdale.
- 2006 award recipients were Dr. Guylaine M. Pollock and Dr. Jeff W. Rickel.
- 2005 award recipients were Dr. Gerald Pitts and Dr. Ronnie Ward.

CSE Former Student Picnic (time and place to be announced)
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering will hold its 7th Annual Computer Science and Engineering Former Student Picnic and Lab Tours. Texas A&M plays Oklahoma State at Kyle Field on Saturday for all you Aggie football fans.

Eleventh Annual Computer Science and Engineering Awards Banquet
The awards banquet was organized by AWICS, TACS, UPE, TAGD, CSGSA, and the faculty and staff of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and sponsored by members of the department's Industrial Affiliates Program. Awards were presented for excellence in leadership, teaching, research, service and in honor of the Distinguished Former Students.
Recipients of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Distinguished Former Student Award for 2009 were Lieutenant Colonel Curtis A. Carver, PhD '01, Vice Dean United States Military Academy and Mr. Thomas E. Reddin, MS '65, Director, Systems Integration Division, Systems and Applied Sciences Sector of the Federal Data Corporation, (ret). Dr. Lt. Col. Carver and Mr. Reddin were presented with commemorative plaques, and $1000 scholarships were awarded in their honor.

Texas A&M Engineering's Department of Computer Science held its sixth annual CS Former Student Picnic and Lab Tours on Friday, October 10, 2008. Former students and current faculty and staff were treated to Buppy's award-winning Texas Barbeque served from noon to 1:00 p.m. on the lawn next to the Civil Engineering Building — across Ross Street from the H.R. Bright Building on the Texas A&M University, College Station campus. Tours of department labs were held from 1:00 p.m. till 3:30 p.m. If you couldn't attend this year's picnic, we hope to see you at the next one..

Texas A&M Engineering's Department of Computer Science held its fifth annual CS Former Student Picnic and Lab Tours on Friday, October 5, 2007. The picnic had a fiesta theme with fajitas, rice and beans served from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the lawn next to the Civil Engineering Building — across Ross Street from the H.R. Bright Building on the Texas A&M University, College Station campus. Tours of department labs were held until 4:00 p.m. If you didn't have an opportunity to attend this year, mark your calendars for the next one!

The storm clouds of October 22 stayed away, and we had a partly sunny afternoon to celebrate our second CS Former Student Picnic. We ate barbecue and fixin's from C&J, toured computer science research labs, and enjoyed the company of recent and not so recent CS graduates. CS Former Student Picnic
The Department of Computer Science in the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas
A&M University held its first CS Former Student Picnic.
A picnic lunch was served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the lawn next to the Civil
Engineering Building--across Ross Street from the H.R. Bright Building. Tours of the
computer science department were available from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The department
invited all its former students to come by and enjoy a memorable day on campus.
